Who I Am
I like to call myself late to journalism. Yes, you’ve probably heard this a million times, but the one thing I always knew was that I wanted to work in sports for my career. I don’t know why I was so blind before, but midway through my undergraduate years at Gettysburg College, it occurred to me that journalism was a pretty big part of the sports world. So, I set out on my journey to become a sports reporter.
I like to call PG County the “best county in the world.” Not only have I grown up surrounded by people that look like me from all walks of life, but I have also been able to communicate with so many different people and cultures because of the diversity of the DMV.
I was so happy when I got into the University of Maryland’s Master’s in Journalism program because it meant being able to come home and cover a place that has been so important to me. Attending to Maryland, I have already had the opportunity to cover so many different beats and topics in my first semester. I view journalism differently now. I had been using sports as a tool to get into journalism, but now I see Journalism as a vehicle to explore multiple aspects of the world.
